Hypnotherapy

Written by Dr. Fred Hillwig Psy.D.. Posted in Psychological Services

Hypnosis can be thought of as an altered state of cognition in which one's normal skepticism is largely suspended, allowing an individual to focus his/her attention on a single image and be open to suggestions posed by a trained clinician. This state is similar to the absorption you experience when you are listening to your favorite music or reading a good book.

In my clinical practice, I provide hypnotherapy in conjunction with talk therapy, and have found hypnotherapy to be very useful in helping my clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, assertiveness and healthy decision-making.
